When to go
Rome is a famous place to visit no matter what time of year. But travelers must consider a number of factors, including events, weather and crowds when planning their vacation to the Eternal City. June through August sees the heaviest tourist traffic in Rome. Spring can also be a busy time in Rome, not only because of the beautiful weather but because of the several religious occasions. Thousands of Christians flock to Rome during Easter Week to visit its churches and museums, especially St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Museums in the Vatican City or to see the Pope preside over special ceremonies. Christmas in Rome is typically less crowded than Easter, but still, a very popular time to visit Rome and the Vatican City. Although the weather is chilly, the atmosphere is festive and warm thanks to Christmas markets, and a host of musical pageants and performances at area churches and theaters. November and February are the least popular months in which to visit Rome. November is typically the rainiest month of the year and February can be definitely chilly. January and March are also low seasons. However, travelers to Rome during this time will be rewarded with near-empty museums, and the chance to observe Rome as the Romans do.
Location
The Aventine is one of the most fascinating places in the entire city. Residential and refined area, the Aventine extends over one of the ancient seven hills of Rome, linked to the legend of the founding of the city. Thanks to its relaxing beauty, it is one of the most popular areas for walks to discover unusual and fascinating corners: from the famous "keyhole" of the gate of the Priorato dei Cavalieri di Malta, from which you can see the dome of St. Peter, and also the churches of Santa Sabina, Santi Bonifacio and Alessio, Santa Prisca, Sant'Anselmo and Santa Maria del Priorato, which house admirable works of art, archaeological remains, crypts, mitreans and delightful cloisters. Also in the Aventine stand the impressive Terme di Caracalla, one of the largest and best preserved thermal complexes of ancient times, built on the Piccolo Aventino by the Emperor Caracalla between 212 and 216 AD. Without forgetting the Circo Massimo, the largest building in the ancient times for the competitive competitions and gladiator games.

Rome is an incredible city. With its layers of fascinating history, stunning architecture and eternal magnetism, it’s easy for the Italian destination to get under your skin as soon as you arrive. It is, however, difficult to really capture a sense of the city in just one trip (or even multiple visits, for that matter), but Photographer Oliver Astrologo set out to do just that in his short film simply entitled Rome.
“Rome has been documented in different ways and for different purposes, but few videos make you appreciate this city through local's eyes,” Astrologo writes. From start to finish, the 3:27-minute video is an adventure, speeding through the streets while taking moments to slow down and feel the quiet breath of the city. Be careful though, watching this may just cause you to book a ticket.

Really sublime
The Hotel San Anselmo is really sublime and worthy of a 4-star hotel. The staff is welcoming, the room a thousand and one nights is perfect, the marble, the bed is super large, the small balcony. The little extra: the bathtub ☺️ The hotel is super well located, and there are several relaxation areas, garden, terrace. It's super nice to sit down with a small cocktail. We love staying here and we recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to visit Rome.
