The Villa
Solar Egas Moniz is a Charming House for exclusive rent, with 10 double rooms, a library and a desk with wood stove, a dining room, a living room with cellar and fireplace, a garden with an outdoor swimming pool and a play-ground for children. Throughout the house there is the Wi-Fi connection (gardens included). You don't need to book all the rooms for the buyout but the exclusive rental can be done even booking at least 4 rooms, with a minimum stay of 2 nights from October to May (excluding Easter, Carnival, Christmas, New Year and other holidays where the minimum stay is 3 nights).

The History
Solar Egas Moniz even after 120 years shows the traditional architectural characteristics of a house of aristocratic owners of the time. It is located near the famous home for children "Casa do Gaiato" and the Monastery "Mosteiro do Salvador do Paço de Sousa". This monastery plays an essential role in the strategic presentation of Solar Egas Moniz since the building, sponsored by Egas Moniz, tutor of the first king of Portugal (D. Afonso Henriques), is an ex libris of the “Rota do Românico”. Thus, the villa was given its name in homage to Egas Moniz. There is still Portuguese history in the villa, as it is the starting point of the "Rota do Românico", a journey rich in culture and heritage.

Children
The villa offers a ideal place for children with swings, slides and a wooden house, recreating a sort of enchanted world for the little ones. In addition, a corner of the pool has been projected and designed specifically for children. The organic garden will be perfect to introduce him to the local crops. If all this were not enough, there is a riding stable within a short distance as well as the "Magikland", a dedicated space for children where they can let themselves go amidst games and fun.

The Enoteca
It is the place where you can taste a great selection of the best wines of the country, accompanied by an intimate atmosphere, sometimes modern, sometimes aristocratic, complete with a fireplace to warm body and soul. The main actor is the famous and indigenous “vinhos verdes”, a unique product in the world rich in aroma and lightness. Simply perfect to accompany the different tapas made with many types of cheese, olive oil, smoked ham, melon, olives, a selection of all the best delicacies produced in the region. But if you want to drink wines from other regions of Portugal, there is a selection of the best wines from the Douro, Minho, Alentejo, Dão...just to name a few. The Enoteca is the perfect invitation to prepare your senses for a thematic food tour around Portugal.

Cook for you
A private and dedicated chef can prepare breakfast, lunch or dinner for those days when you want to laze more, don't feel like going out and prefer to stay at home. There are many options to choose from: grilled fish, roasted in the oven, rojões or cod to savor the flavors of the region. It is a service that will give an additional plus to your exclusive stay in this amazing villa.

F&B Service
At Solar Egas Moniz, there aren't a restaurant or a bar. However, inside the villa there's an honesty bar and they can arrange breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinners, on request (with the payment of additional extra fee, booked with 3 days in advance).

Top Wine Experience
Add in your bucket list a visit at Quinta de Aveleda, a magical Estate, result of passion that for 5 generations has been cherished and cared for like a family treasure. The romantic stroll through the gardens with trees and flowers of all colors is unique. Enjoy the tranquility with the Swan Lake, the manueline style “Reboleira” window and the Four Seasons Fountain. The tour ends with a tasting of the best wines, accompanied by Aveleda cheese, ona quiet balcony overlooking over 120 acres of vineyards. Why is it better to rent a villa?

Of course, needless to say, some people would rather spend their vacation in a villa with family and friends than stay in a hotel. They did this for some reasons that I collected from our community and listed in this travel post.
