We will associate the 2020 with new words that have entered in our daily vocabulary, such as lockdown, restrictions, resilience, social distancing. We all trust that this 2021 will be the synonymous of the real restart and reopening. As proof of this, many independent hotels as well as large hotel chains are really ready to launch new amazing properties all around the world. So let’s go in a virtual tour of the world, taking a look at the upcoming 5-star openings…who knows one of these new hotels could be the right reason to remove dust from your luggage.
Bulgari in France
Following the openings in Dubai, Shaghai, Beijing and Moscow, the hospitality sector of the well-known “Made in Italy” fashion brand returns to Europe in this 2021, landing in elegant and romantic Paris. More exactly on Avenue George V, renowned because it is within the famous golden triangle. This new Bulgari hotel will have 76 between rooms and suites, a Spa complete with a swimming pool (25 meters) and a beautiful exclusive garden.
The interior decorations are signed by Antonio Citterio and Patricia Viel who have collaborated with Valode & Pistre. The typical widespread use of limestone as well as the arrangement of the blocks are a tribute to Haussmannian aesthetics of the nineteenth century, while the square shape of the renovated outer wall represents the German rationalism.

Rosewood in Brazil
Bringing the forgotten Matarazzo Maternity Hospital back to life, the luxury company Rosewood designed the hotel-chain’s first outpost in the continent. Its 150 guest-rooms and 124 suites are the work of Jean Nouvel. There is an incredible tower adorned by a vertical garden and spaces inside it to be experienced, which are the work of Philippe Starck in collaboration with local artists such as Vic Mooney & Saint-Clair Cemin. This collaboration highlighted the combination of different elements between typical flora of this region and avant-garde design. There is also a Spa and 6 restaurants that will have to satisfy every taste.
One&Only in Montenegro
So, if you combine a luxury hotel, the amazing coast of Montenegro, the tasty skill of the Italian starred chef Locatelli and the exceptional service of one of the most famous hotel chains in the world…what do you think? A paradise in earth, right? No worries, this mix is reality and it is absolutely a novelty. Beyond the chef, references to the Italian style are present in all the Venetian-style guestrooms. In addition, the private beach and the exclusive spa will make every holiday in Portonovi perfect, right from their first guest.
Airelles in France
If the name Versailles, the most famous palace in the world, were not enough for you, you have to be the first guest of the new challenge of the luxurious Airelles group. It has opted to offer a luxury hospitality service in the palace garden. Do not think of a mega hotel but rather of a boutique hotel with just 14 high-level suites, all overlooking the Orangerie: exclusivity at its best in the midst of the history of France.
The largest suite (120 sqm) is located on the ground floor (better known as the noble floor), right next to the living room which will be adorned with candelabra and 18th century furniture. Think that Christophe Tollemer is taking care of the restoration of everything since 5 years ago. He’s selecting the antiques and entrusting the rest of the furniture to trusted craftsmen.
Six Senses in the USA
This 2021 sees the opening of the first hotel in America for the Six Senses chain. The XI is the location chosen by the hotel chain. It is a new amazing building designed by the architech Bjarke Ingles, overlooking the Hudson. This thing will conquer all architecture lovers, but it not finished here. The West Chelsea area, known for its museums and galleries, will be another reason that will attract more and more guests.
In addition to the architecture and location, the hotel will offer every type of service: from cooking classes to a swimming pool, without forgetting a wellness area of 1670 square meters. However, this new New York hotel does not only aim to be a further proposal for hospitality in the Big Apple but rather wants to be an important part of the cultural scene of the metropolis. Inside this hotel you can enjoy art pieces created by artists from New York as well as furniture designed and signed by Gilles & Boissier.
Cheval Blanc in France
The opening date has not yet been set, but the group LVMH is looking forward to opening the Cheval Blanc even in the French Capital. This new property will be located in a building that symbolizes Paris. A building out of service for a long time (15 years), which overlooks the Seine and it will finally be able to see the light again. This is La Samaritaine, (a department stores), which will be opened again this spring, including hotels, food and wine, bar and restaurants and last but not least the signature Spa by Dior.
The hotel will provide 36 guestrooms as well as 36 suites. The restaurant will be managed by the 3-star Michelin chef, Arnaud Donckele, who has already worked for the group at La Vague D’Or in Saint-Tropez.
Hoshino Resorts Kai in Japan
Inner peace through the surrounding landscape. Here are the common thread that links all 49 rooms of the Hoshino Resort KAI. Located in the prefecture of Kagoshima, the main protagonists are the huge windows. Everything else is only background. Simple furniture, traditional materials and simple colors. And there is also a heated swimming pool located outside with a fairytale view.
Paradero Todos Santos in Mexico
It has just opened the country’s first hotel, staying true to tradition and combining comfort with several option in terms of things to do and enjoy. There are only 35 rooms, including 18 suites, from which you can enjoy panoramic views of ocean and countryside because they are located on the top floors. The design was created by Ruben Valdez & Yashar Yektajo. They have followed a repeating triangle pattern, which is the sacred form of the Maya.
Instead the interiors were designed by B-Huber recalling the soft colors of Mexico cities such as Oaxaca and Guadalajara. The spa is focused on sound therapies, with as many as 100 palm trees, mountains and deserts. A corner of paradise so changing that it has been nominated as Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO.

NoMad lands in Europe this 2021 by opening its first property in Covent Garden (London). The palace was formerly a police station dating from the 19th century, opposite the lovely Royal Opera House. The 91 rooms are refined and bohemian in style. A world call that arises between Mexico and England. Do not miss the incredible library as well as the Side Hustle bar which serves agave-based drinks as a specialty of the house.
Palácio de Canavezes in Portugal

Mandarin Oriental Ritz in Spain
This is the most incredible renovation project of the luxury hotel chain that we do not forget has 110 years of history. This new Mandarin Oriental adventure will open its doors inside a historic building in Madrid, in Belle Epoque style, with a wonderful view of the Prado. The project is signed by Rafael de La Hoz who is collaborating with Gilles & Boissier.
This new Mandarin Oriental gem will offer 100 rooms and 53 suites, including an indoor heated swimming pool, relaxation and wellness area, 5 restaurants for all tastes and it will see the historic glass dome of the Palm Court come back to light. Nobu in Morocco
The hotel chain, who has as co-founder Robert De Niro, is continuing its expansion and has landed close by the Djemaa el-Fna square, the nerve center of Marrakech. With a view to recalling the traditions of the place, we cannot fail to mention the wellness center of 2.000 sqm where obviously you will find a Moroccan hammam.
In addition of the Spa, the guests of the 71 guestrooms will also enjoy the view of the square with its colors, lights, sounds and its stunning minaret, directly from the top floor of the building where there’s a beautiful panoramic swimming pool.
